To register as a tutor/student, simply use our in-app registration and kindly complete all required personal data. For tutors, please note that you will need to be at least 21 years old, completed your GCE ‘A’ level/IBGP examinations or equivalent and have an excellent professional track record as an educator to qualify as a Future Steps tuition partner.

For foreign nationals, you are welcomed to apply but kindly show proof in the registration to Future Steps that you are permitted to freelance work by the Ministry of Manpower and other relevant authorities.

Our tuition partners are categorised into two main tutor categories:

Part-Time Tuition partners – refers to private tutors who tutor on a part-time basis and usually has a full-time job. 

Full-Time Tuition partners – refers to private full-time tutors whose job is to be a tutor.

In each category, we have both NIE trained teachers and ex-teachers as well as degree qualified part-time and full-time tuition partners. 

We will only assign you students when there is match between you and the student’s profile. This is achieved through our preferred learning styles assessment.

In the event when there is a match, Future Steps will send your profile to the students for their confirmation. Once selection is complete, you will be notified by email that the student has selected you as the tutor of choice. You are also required to access the Tutor section of Future Steps’ portal to accept the assignment. All subsequent class arrangements will be managed off-line between you and the students.

We treat our students’ welfare with care and as tutors, you have the responsibility to ensure the agreed contract is carried out to the satisfaction of your students. So while semestral breaks are allowed only with the agreement of the students, Future Steps strongly discourage tutors from in-term breaks as far as possible.

Every assignment has a minimum commitment period of 4 weeks of lessons. If the lesson cancellation which requires a minimum 48 hours notification prior to lesson commencement is by the tutor/student due to illnesses, accidents, national service mobilisation and compassionate grounds, the make-up lesson shall be arranged between you and the students at the next available slot. In the event if the cancellation is done up to 2 hours prior to the tuition session commencement, you will be paid 50% of the tuition fees (net of the platform fee) you would have otherwise collected. In this case, there is no requirement to schedule a make-up class.

The tutor shall conduct the tuition lessons in a way that best fit the students’ learning styles and requirements including online and offline delivery methods.

The tutor shall not coerce and charge the students any purchase of supplementary learning materials without the explicit approval and knowledge of both Future Steps and the students.

We will levy a fixed charge per lesson which will be deducted as Future Steps’ platform fee. Future Steps operate in a transparent manner and the use of the platform fee shall be carefully and judiciously managed to ensure the user experience on our platform is superior.

You will be paid on the next business day after every lesson is duly completed including students’ rating of your lesson as well as your written progress feedback or observations to the students/parents.

In the event of disagreement/s with your students, you are encouraged to write in to Future Steps if you require our assistance. We are here to assist you in the best possible manner.
